Holdings: How to find where Summit items are, and if they are available

When you locate a record for a particular title in Summit, click on the link "...Orbis Cascade Alliance libraries have this item". Once in the "HOLDINGS FOR Summit Central Database" view, you can see the institution, location within the institution, call number, and status of each copy of the title will display.

The Alliance institution owning the item (e.g. "Reed") is at the top of the table.

The location indicates where that item is located within that institution (e.g. "West Stacks," "Science Library").

The call number typically tells you where you can find that item on the shelf. Call numbers for a given title may be different for each institution, or for different copies at different locations within the institution.

The status tells you whether an item is available and, if not, why it is unavailable and if it may be available in the future. Some common item statuses that you may see in Summit include:

AVAILABLE - This item may be requested through Summit Borrowing.

LOCAL USE ONLY - This item is not generally available for Summit Borrowing, but may be available for local or on-site borrowing, or ILL.
